Everything We See is in the Past
Everything We See is in the Past is a meditation on the elusive, transitory nature of life. In 2001, as research for a project, I spent a year as a Hospice volunteer at Beth Israel in Manhattan, and, while there, I was able to observe “how people die”. This powerful discovery has been with me since and I take it into all aspects of my work and life.
Everything We See is in the Past, takes its name from the book A Course In Miracles, 1976. This spiritual guide asks us to allow love as inspiration in all aspects of life.
Portrait participants are friends and artists during Arts Gowanus Open Studio from 2019-present and art festival visitors at The Other Art Fair Brooklyn in November 2023, where I was the guest artist, making video portraits on site.
